ENTER CONTEST

Biking is for everyone! Bicycle Utopia, a participatory public art project based in NYC, is calling bicyclists and art lovers from all over the world to submit their photographs and art to the Am I Invisible? Open Call. Share your experiences biking in your city, and make urban bicycling visible in all its fun, beauty and diversity.

The Open Call seeks images that showcase themes of biking in the city, bike safety, complete streets, sustainable transportation and urban mobility. The Open Call is open to everyone and is accepting submissions online now through June 15 at bicycleutopia.com.

The Am I Invisible? Open Call celebrates the cultural diversity of bicyclists and biking in the urban space. The Open Call allows the bicycling community to share their experiences of the healthy lifestyle, social connections and environmental sustainability that are enhanced by biking in the city, and to promote awareness of the issues surrounding bike safety and urban mobility.

Bicycle Utopia Founder and Creative Director, Jeanne Hilary, explains: “In previous Open Calls we have been absolutely amazed by the quality of images submitted, the range of biking and photography styles, and the sheer love of bicycling that comes through in each image. It's inspiring to see such a wide range of applicants, from professional photographers to high school students discovering their passion for biking and photography. The main point is to share your experience of biking in the city, capture what you love about your city and how you'd like to see it become more bike-friendly. We want to discover your city from a “bicycling perspective”. What is it that you love about your city that can only be experienced on a bike?”

In 2015, Am I Invisible? NYC |SP received nearly 500 submissions from contestants in New York City and São Paulo; six winners were awarded prizes by a jury panel drawn from the art and biking communities in both cities. All the images were exhibited at public art installations in NYC and SP. Everyone who enters the Open Call is eligible to win $2,000 in sponsored raffle prizes and special promotions sponsored by Adoramapix, Lomography, ABUS, Nutcase Helmets and others.

This year’s winners will be announced on Bicycle Utopia’s website, as well as at the Am I Invisible? Party hosted at Lomography Gallery Store in NYC on June 30.
