Borders calling: ENRS’ Photo competition for students

ENTER CONTEST

European Network Remembrance and Solidarity (ENRS) invites all high school students (15-19 years old) to challenge the idea of a border and to explore their immediate environment by taking part in a photography competition: Borders calling! The competition is open until 31st January 2026. Students can enter via registration form available on the competition website.

Take a picture of a (hi)story behind borders!

Show borders – administrative, social, political, aesthetical ones... – to your students and encourage them to take part in a photography competition! Borders calling is an opportunity for your students to combine creativity and critical thinking with visual storytelling, and – an opportunity to win cash prizes!

To prepare your students for the competition, we encourage you to present this theme to your class with free, ready-to-use educational resources designed to help you:

Introduce - and challenge! - the definitions of a border, a landscape, and a borderlandscape;

Find the stories that borders tell us through oral history and photography.

How to get started:

Explore the free teaching resources made by educators for educators;

Discuss the themes in your classroom

Encourage your students to continue discovering borders and submit their photos by the end of January!
