Call for Entries: Contrast by PH21 Gallery
Contrast by PH21 Gallery
A juried international photography exhibition
Submission deadline: June 20, 2016
Notification: All entrants will be notified 7–10 days after the deadline.
Exhibition dates: July 28 – August 23, 2016
Throughout the history of photography contrast has persistently remained one of the significant expressive features of photographic images. Indeed, since contrast is a powerful visual communicative means in both black and white and colour photography, many photographers use contrast in the most creative ways in their work. Contrast may constitute the key compositional feature of an image on the formal aesthetic level; it may also emphasize some of the important aspects of the content of the photograph.
PH21 Gallery invites photographers to submit their work for the group exhibition themed Contrast. We are looking for submissions from all photographers who think that contrast is a constitutive element in their images and would like to share their work with a wider international audience through the exposure of PH21 Gallery. The theme is broadly construed; it may be present as a formal aesthetic feature, it may be expressed visually on personal or social levels, literally or in abstract, symbolic ways. We welcome submissions from all photographic genres, and we are interested in all possible creative photographic interpretations of the theme.
One juror’s choice and up to three honourable mentions will be selected and announced. (Occasionally we also give out an associate's choice award.) The juror’s choice receives three free entries for any upcoming themed group exhibition calls at PH21 Gallery. (Each free entry includes up to 15 images.)
All photographers 18 years or older worldwide may enter the competition by submitting their own, original work.
Copyrights & Usage Rights:
All copyrights and ownership of the works are retained by the photographer. Applicants grant PH21 Gallery nonexclusive right to use and reproduce submitted photographs (with the name of the photographer and the title of the work indicated) for promotional (e.g.: website and Facebook page of the Gallery, catalogue) and exhibition purposes.
