Capital Curiosities: Photography Exhibition

The District of Columbia and surrounding region is a bubble of curiosities. Rediscover the city’s past and present with an inquisitive eye as you seek out the majestic, surprising, and unfamiliar. Stimulate the imagination—paint pictures on the wonders of architecture in the National Capital Region.

What are we looking for?
This presentation seeks artistic photographs with unique perspectives and/or storytelling attributes. Genres can include abstract, documentary, fine art, landscape, or street—all with emphasis on architectural wonderment.

Prizes:

20 to 30 photographs will be selected for exhibition at the District Architecture Center or up to seven (7) photographers with one or more photographs each, depending on the number of submissions and exhibition space.

Best in Show, Runner-up, and Honorable Mention will be selected by the jury and recognized in the exhibition after the opening reception. Selections will also be featured in the fall edition of ArchitectureDC.

Eligibility:

Eligible applicants include professional, non-professional, and student photographers living in Washington, DC, Maryland, or Virginia.

Copyrights & Usage Rights:

Applicant grants permission to AIA|DC/WAF non-exclusive publishing rights in print and digital format for the purpose of exhibition and advertising. Applicants retain full ownership and copyright to their entered photographs.

Applicants—acting on their own behalf—may sell their framed photographs during exhibition, but framed photographs must remain in the gallery until the end of the exhibition. AIA|DC/WAF will not handle sales. AIA|DC/WAF does not insure property on display for the purpose of exhibition at the District Architecture Center.
