Numbers, Symbols, and Letters
- Deadline: 1 February 2026
- Website: https://www.praxisphotocenter.org/x1-sub-3-9
Numbers, symbols, and letters circulate through daily life as systems of order, instruction, measurement, and belief. However, when detached from their intended functions, characters shift from language into shape—from carriers of information into visual actors.
Praxis seeks work that frames, isolates, interrupts, or recombines numbers, symbols, and letters—whether deliberately composed or discovered through chance. These approaches produce images that surprise, amuse, or operate as visually compelling forms without requiring fixed interpretation.
Submissions should emphasize organization, rhythm, scale, or spatial relationships over readability or meaning. Word-based imagery, slogans, and textual content are welcome—but the focus of this exhibition is not what characters say, but how they behave once freed from the work of saying. All lens-based artwork is welcome.
