PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST LIBRARY MERCÈ RODOREDA 2019 "EDUCATING THE EYE"
1. Purpose of the contest
Within the framework of the "Photographic Weekend Platja d'Aro" organized by the Photographic Association Educating the Eye, the Library Mercè Rodoreda (Platja d'Aro, Spain) announces a photo contest to stimulate and reward economically photographic projects of national and international authors who are able to surprise, excite and move with their vision of the world around them.
2. Type
The contest is international and its participation is free.
3. Participants
Professional or amateur photographers, individuals or groups. Each participant can send a maximum of two projects. Members of the organization of the Photographic Weekend are not eligible.
4. Theme and technique
The theme is free, as well as the technique used. The only requirement is that the images must have been taken with a photographic camera or any device with camera; all sorts of manipulation and hybridization are allowed. The original image files should be printable in photographic quality with a minimum size of DinA4 (min. 3600px at the large side).
5. Project requirements
The projects should consist of a theoretical part, in a dossier (see point 6) and a set of 6 to 12 images. Both the dossier as images should be provided through the specific "Contest" section of the web from the photographic weekend Platja d'Aro (https://fotoplatjadaro.com/)..
6. The presentation of the project
The dossier of the project submission must include the following items:
 Name and family name, age, city, country, email address, telephone number at least one contact person
 Background: Presentation of the author or group of authors (max 500 characters)
 Project Title

 Definition of the project (maximum 500 characters)
 Explanation and motivations
The lack of any of these data can result in disqualification of the participant.
7. Images to be presented with the dossier
From 6 to 12 images should be presented at 72 dpi in jpeg, sRGB color space and 1920 pixels on the longest side of the image. The images should be named as follows: title of the project _ number of the series. For example MyProject_01.jpg.
Finalists and winners will be requested to send the files in a larger size (minimum size 3600px on the long side) to allow for print usage at an exhibition in a gallery of the municipality of Castell-Platja d'Aro, with dates around the Photographic Weekend Platja d'Aro 2019. Not sending the files in this minimum size and within the dates indicated by the organization may be a reason for disqualification.
8. Jury and evaluation criteria
A jury, consisting of 3 photography professionals and a Secretary will select the finalists and winners of the competition.
The creativity and expressiveness of projects will be especially valued.

The presentation of the projects will be accessible on the website www.fotoplatjadaro.com in the section "Contest" (concurs), with deadline for submission 24: 00h of March 31st, 2019.
We will personally notify the winner and finalists and will publish the results of the competition via the website of Fotoplatjadaro and other channels on June 7th, 2019.

 Local prize (author is resident of the province of Girona) 750 €
Each project can only win a single prize. The winners in the Youth and Local categories will also be offered support and guidance in the subsequent evolution and growth of the project presented, through the " Factory of Photography Creation of Castell-Platja d'Aro 2019".
Legal taxes and withholdings may apply to these amounts, winners are responsible to locally declare the prizes and pay local taxes if applicable. The winners will have to provide their postal mail and their bank details (with codes IBAN / BIC / SWIFT in case it is outside Spain) to receive the amount of the prizes by bank transfer.
11. Physical exhibition of the finalist and winners' works
The authors selected as finalists/winners will send a copy of the files in jpeg or tiff format in a medium- large size (as specified in sections 4 and 7) in order to display a physical (print) exhibition of the photographs, which will be organized as a part of the Photographic Weekend.
12. Rights and Responsibilities of images
The authors declare to be the owners of the rights to the images and are responsible for possible claims by third parties.
The authors give rights to the organization for the publication and diffusion of winning and finalist images, as well as for promotional use of the photographic weekend “Jornades Fotogràfiques Platja d’Aro” and future editions of the contest. The winner and finalists accept the free reproduction of their images in mass and trade media with the aim of promoting the results of the contest and awards.
Participation in this competition implies acceptance of these rules. The organization reserves the right to resolve as deemed appropriate any situation not covered in the rules.
